Programmes the community runs
-
Tutoring and mentoring
Children do their homework regularly and have extra help to do better in school, and learn how to use a computer and the website. Parents learn to use a computer and email, so families can keep in touch with the school. Children have access to online learning resources such as IXL and Raz-Kids, paid for by the community.
-
Sports and recreation
The EICWR encourages sport and physical activity for developing individuals and families as a whole. We encourage our members and youth to join our weekly physical fitness and sports activities, including winter indoor soccer.
-
Educational guidance lectures
Lectures for high school students planning to attend college or university in September, with guest speakers, graduates and panellists. Held at 65 Hanson Ave, Kitchener, and hosted by the EICWR administrator.
-
Community-based sponsorship
The EICWR assists members to sponsor family and friends through the community-based refugee sponsorship programme in Canada. Sponsors commit to providing financial, emotional and resettlement support to help newly arrived refugees integrate into life in a new country.
